Letters

This month's Letters highlight Saia employees that have received special thanks from some of our customers or the public.

Good morning…I am not sure who to send this email to, but one of your drivers needs to be recognized for their work and dedication to your customers.

I recently had a shipment shipping from our location in Richmond, Virginia to Atlanta, Georgia. Saia was having a hard time delivering (not Saia’s fault) to the PO in Atlanta. It kept being refused. I received another call from the PO stating the freight was being refused, again! Within minutes of that phone call, I received a call from ATL City Driver Stanley Sirmons stating that if I could fix the problem, he would make sure the freight was delivered later than afternoon.

I have received phone calls periodically from LTL drivers trying to help, but it is rare. Stanley took a situation that was becoming really bad and turned it around. He gave me his number so I could text when the information was ready and with the new appointment number.

I cannot stress enough how much my company appreciates the help he gave us to get this taken care of.  The freight was delivered and a very bad situation turned into a good situation. Stanley, a dedicated driver, has now made me want to request Saia for my deliveries. That is not an easy task, but it just takes a little help - someone going above and beyond what they need to do in order to save a customer and make future shipments possible.

As a business owner, I understand that when you have an employee who changes a potentially bad situation and makes the outcome wonderful for the customer, these actions need to be recognized and rewarded. Good employees are hard to find and you have found that with Stanley.

Thank you and I will continue to use Saia because of your employee in Atlanta – just one of a number of employees that probably just comes in and does his job, but it makes all the difference in the world to your customer.

Thank you,

Brandon:

I just want to give a “that-a-boy” to the driver, the dispatcher and another un-named gentleman out of the ACO who called me a day before my delivery. Everyone was very professional, very easy and very accommodating to work with.

In a world where the negative comments, unfortunately, outweigh the positive ones, I just wanted to say what a good experience I had from your Saia team.

Many thanks!

DOT City Driver John Williams made a tremendous impression on a customer recently. He pulled into a crushed cement/rock driveway, in a van, in what I believe was a dead-end street or cul-de-sac. He (then) probably had to pull the shipment 150-plus feet.

Another carrier had already turned this down after looking at Google maps.

I let the customer know that picking up something like this is often dependent on the driver and caring enough to get it done for the customer. This photo shows John definitely “outworking the competition to service the customer.”
