Around Saia

This month, we're featuring the CIN terminal makeover, the retirement of a FTS city driver and LAX team members who were honored with safety awards.

CIN Terminal Exhibits Saia Pride

Recently, the Cincinnati, Ohio (CIN) terminal got a bit of a makeover. Walls were painted red and black and new message boards and signage was installed — all in an effort to improve the facility and showcase some Saia culture and pride! According to CIN Safety Training Manager Sam Wilfert, Terminal Manager Thomas Phillips has been hard at work making improvements around the facility. Thomas explained, "We decided to give the terminal a facelift in an attempt to brighten up the facility. The goal was to show our spirit and increase employee enthusiasm. There is a cleaner, fresher look in the break room, where there is new tile and a red accent wall.  The driver's room, the main office and the dock tower all received updated paint as well. We also used yellow paint to bring visual awareness to high risk areas around bill boxes, dock pumpers and aprons."

Driver Retires After 27 Years

Fort Smith (FTS) City Driver Calvin Mosby is retiring after 27 years of service! DLS Regional Manager Mike Whitwell said it looks like Calvin is going to do some grilling in his spare time. Mike asked him what his immediate plans were and Calvin said “I’m going to ‘sit out’ my first winter in 40 years. They can be pretty tough behind the wheel of a truck!” Mike said “Calvin is one of the best city divers with which I have had the pleasure of working. He will be sorely missed.”

LAX and SAC Team Members Attend Meetings and Receive Safety Awards

LAX Terminal Manager Leo Ramirez emailed to recognize both Executive Vice President of Operations Paul Peck and PDX Regional Manager Mike Ewing for visiting the terminal in September to host employee meetings and help hand out the safety awards. Leo said, “It meant a lot to the LAX team to have you both speak at our meetings.”

HST Regional Manager also sent in a photo recognizing the SAC employees as they safely gathered together to hold employee meetings last month and receive their awards.
