Introducing...
Saia has offered a wellness program as a means to support employees as they seek to lead healthier lives since 2011. Over the years, the program has helped personnel tackle a variety of health-related issues including smoking cessation, diabetes, and weight loss.
Most recently, the program has focused on our annual campaign (Know Your Numbers/Healthy Directions) that asks eligible employees and spouses to visit with a primary care physician so they can help identify and provide education regarding each individual’s own personal health risk factors.
Going forward, we are excited to announce we have formed a new partnership with “Wellworks for You,” a corporate wellness and mental well-being company that will oversee our annual campaign through their own program. Wellworks is committed to serving the needs of clients, like Saia, and wants to work with employers to offer the best services available. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting the health and wellness needs of all employees.
Additionally, Wellworks not only embraces technology in their endeavors to promote healthier lifestyles, they offer state-of-the-art, top-notch tech and professionals who are available to answer any questions that may arise. For instance, employees will have access to their own confidential portal to track their unique program requirements, participation progress, program notifications, and more.
In the coming weeks, you’ll be sent additional communications and information on Wellworks, including correspondence directly from them, about this year’s wellness campaign.
HIPPA Privacy Notice
Saia is required to provide our employees with regular Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) privacy notices.
Current regulations set forth an annual requirement to inform employees as to where they can obtain a copy of the HIPPA notice. In fulfillment of this obligation, any employee who wishes to obtain a copy of the initial or follow-up HIPPA notice may request one from the Saia Benefits Department by emailing empben@saia.com.
Women’s Health Notice
Under Saia’s health plan, coverage will be provided to a person who is receiving benefits for a medically necessary mastectomy and who elects breast reconstruction after the mastectomy for:
- Reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy has been performed,
- Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance,
- Prostheses, and,
- Treatment of physical complication of all stages of mastectomy, including lymph edemas.
This coverage is provided in consultation with the attending physician and the patient, and will be subject to the same annual deductibles and coinsurance that apply for a mastectomy. Employees with questions about this coverage should contact the member service number on the UnitedHealthcare health plan ID card.

Congratulations to the following Saia employees on their 10-year anniversary! Having reached this wonderful milestone, they are now eligible to receive company-paid medical, prescription, and vision coverage with no premiums!
