Tony was known for making a lasting impression on the numerous people he touched throughout his career because of his passion for Saia, its employees, and customers. Regrettably, he was forced to step down from his position because of a terminal illness.

Tony passed away in 2005, but during his lifetime, he personified all the qualities the award stands for. It is given annually to the individual who embodies the traits that made Tony such a beloved and respected part of Saia’s history.

This year, 15 employees, including Cathy, were nominated. Her selection was based on her many great attributes - from being an outstanding role model and mentor to her role as a leader. She was also chosen because of her numerous professional achievements. Cathy has been recognized with President’s Club honors six times, four as a trip winner.

Her nominators outlined how Cathy has grown her career by taking on more and more responsibility - always going the extra mile and believing that failure is never an option. Additionally, mirroring one of Saia’s core values, Cathy is credited with being extremely professional in her role and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

She is also known for understanding the goals and roles of both Saia’s sales and operations teams and how vital they each are to providing outstanding customer service.
