Earlier this month, Saia opened its newest terminal near Parkersburg, West Virginia. This is the second facility we’ve opened this year and is the first terminal for us in the state. Parkersburg is part of the Mid-Ohio Valley and is home to many important industries including manufacturing, education and healthcare. This facility will allow us to offer our customers more direct coverage as demand for our shipping services continues to grow.

In March, we celebrated the opening of our fifth Illinois terminal, in La Salle, which is in the Illinois Valley, an area that is a leader in the state’s economy as its home to many prominent industries including manufacturing and distribution. This May and June, two other facilities are slated to open in the state, in Rockford and Franklin Park, respectively.

During the first half of 2022, we expect to open five to six new facilities with planned openings of 10 to 15 new terminals by year’s end. Last year, we continued to expand our network, opening seven new terminals and hiring nearly 1500 employees.
