Earlier this week, Saia opened a new terminal in Franklin Park, Illinois (ORD) in the O’Hare community. The terminal is our fifth location in the Chicagoland area and the third facility we’ve opened in the state just this year.

“As the demand for shipping in Chicago, a major freight market for us, continues to grow, we’ll be able to support it,” said Saia Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Ray Ramu. “We are focused on expanding our presence in the area by multiplying our operations through increased doors, manpower, and equipment - all to better serve our customers.”

The new terminal is the largest facility we’ve opened to date this year. With 100 employees, we made substantial investments to modernize the terminal, which will support the local economy through jobs and provide transportation services to hundreds of shippers operating throughout the customer-dense region.

“An investment like this brings us closer to the shipper, which supports our ‘Customer First’ core value, and it allows us to better service the market and create more flexibility in our operations,” stated Ray.

At the beginning of August, Saia opened a new terminal near Binghamton, New York (BGN) as well. The new facility is the fifth for Saia in the Empire State and is situated to provide customers with enhanced service in the region, and throughout our network, as we continue to fill in geography.

“Not only have we seen a tremendous response from existing customers, shippers who are asking us to handle their freight needs in these markets, we also are growing our customer base as new businesses hear about us and our service,” Vice President of Operations, East Jared Mull explained. “Our brand is strong because of our commitment to putting the customers’ needs first.”
