Company Update

This month, we are highlighting a new director of 3PL sales, the new fuel and energy manager and the new NSH terminal manager.

Akers Promoted to Director of 3PL Sales

Ross Akers has been named Saia’s new director of 3PL sales. Since 2018, he had been successfully serving as one of our 3PL national account sales executives.

Ross began his career at Saia in 2013 as an account manager and over the years, received multiple promotions including business development executive, prior to being named to the national account sales team. Ross is an integral member of our sales force, having demonstrated consistent results in improving profitability while at the same time successfully championing our value proposition to Saia customers.

He is a multiyear recipient of President’s Club and was previously awarded “best-in-class.” He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas.

New Fuel and Energy Manager Named

Jarvis Huntley was promoted in June to the newly-created role of fuel and energy manager. Jarvis started his career with Saia just one year ago as our fleet maintenance coordinator. He excelled in this position, readily completing any task or project with an open mind and exhibiting true professionalism to all of those he interacts with.

In his new role, Jarvis will manage the day-to-day fuel, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and propane activities as well as help guide Saia as we navigate the alternative energy landscape. He will continue to aggressively pursue contracts in the fuel and DEF space that provide Saia a superior level of service while leveraging our scale to add profit to our bottom line.

In the near term, he will be rolling out a nationwide DEF program bringing consistency and significant price reductions to our network. He will also continue to manage the Pilot national agreement and work to update all of our fuel islands to be reliable and reduce downtime. In the coming months, he will also be leading the charge in our conversion to a new fuel card that will provide a multitude of benefits, both administratively and operationally, improving the driver experience.

Pickelsimer Named NSH Terminal Manager

James Pickelsimer has been named our new Nashville, Tennessee (NSH) terminal manager. James has 16 years of experience in the transportation industry and joined Saia in 2018.

Most recently, he had been serving as the manager for our Greenville, South Carolina (GVL) facility. Prior to this, he worked as an assistant terminal manager in Atlanta, Georgia (ATL).
